This review is from: Honeywell - QuietSet 8-Speed Whole Room Tower Fan, Black (Kitchen)
This is the BEST tower fan ever!!!I just moved and only put in one AC in my bedroom and left my old tower fan behind (it was old, ugly and noisey) This very nice looking fan looks great in my living room. It has 8 settings from super quiet to the other "white noise" setting and super cool which is like having air conditioning air blown around. I have actually opted not to put in another AC for now. The other tower fans I had in the past are NO comparison to this. You get what you pay for and this honeywell fan is soooo worth the money!! I highly recomend this fan... I would give this 10 stars!! And as usual Amazons service is the BEST.

This review is from: Honeywell - QuietSet 8-Speed Whole Room Tower Fan, Black (Kitchen)
Here's why we desperately needed more than an average fan for our home:
We live in an older home with a very uneven heating and cooling system. The first floor can be comfortably cool while the upstairs bedrooms are sweltering hot. And yes...I know it can be typically warmer on the second floor of a home than the first but the variation in our home is extreme, way past the norm. As a result, we've already paid plenty to try and resolve this situation. Unfortunately, our budget forbids paying for the extensive duct work rearrangement needed to resolve the problem. We're saving up for that.
In the meantime, this fan has made our home so much more liveable now. We sleep better and longer. It has been a quick and satisfying fix for a very frustrating problem. It also keeps our air conditioning costs low....amazingly low, compared to the years before we bought this fan. I think this is because if we feel cooler we aren't using our air conditioner as often... Read more

I've purchased several spire fans from Sharper Image and they pale in comparison to this Honeywell fan. The Honeywell really cools a room quickly; I intend to buy several. Highly recommend.

Allergens, pollen, bacteria, viruses, mold and germs are all continually circulated through your home by your HVAC system on a day-to-day basis, triggering allergies and asthma attacks. You, your family and your pets are exposed to these irritants with little or no relief. The PetAirapy PA-260 is revolutionary in controlling and purifying the air in your home. The PA-260 consists of safe, powerful ozone free UVC (ultra-violet) light technology to kill and disinfect germs, fungi, bacteria, viruses and mold in the air. Placed directly into your HVAC system or furnace, the PA-260 kills or deactivates the DNA of circulating microorganisms and germs that have been multiplying and growing inside of your home’s main air circulation unit. Once this powerful UVC light is installed, it will immediately go to work cleaning and disinfecting your HVAC or furnace - dispersing sanitized, fresh air. With your HVAC system freed of built-up bacteria, mold, fungi, viruses and germs, it will be running smoothly and more efficiently, ultimately saving you money on energy costs.
Kills 99.99% of viruses, bacteria and mold, circulates fresh, clean air for the health of your entire household
UVC (ultra-violet) light uses powerful, safe and energy efficient wavelengths of 254nm (nanometers) to kill even the smallest of particles
Safe and ozone free, effective up to 5000 sq. ft. for 10 ton HVAC systems
Reduces energy consumption by keeping the inner parts of your HVAC system or furnace clear of build-up

PetAirapy PA-260 Whole House UV Air Disinfector Purifier, HVAC System up to 5,000 sqft Reviews
I installed the PetAirapy system in our home because our dog had multiple allergies. Every spring and fall he was miserable, and the vet bills each season ran into the hundreds of dollars. He would scratch himself raw, poor thing! After installing the PetAirapy system and giving our pet a good bath, we began to see results in less than a day. Our family has also experienced fewer colds and less problems with stuffy noses and hay fever. My own dust mite sensitivity is non-existant since installing the system.
We are a happier, healthier family - especially our dear, sweet dog - since we got PetAirapy.

Plants are the lungs of the earth: they produce the oxygen that makes life possible, add precious moisture, and filter toxins. Houseplants can perform these essential functions in your home or office with the same efficiency as a rainforest in our biosphere.
In research designed to create a breathable environment for a NASA lunar habitat, noted scientist Dr. B.C. Wolverton discovered that houseplants are the best filters of common pollutants such as ammonia, formaldehyde, and benzene. Hundreds of these poisonous chemicals can be released by furniture, carpets, and building material, and then trapped by closed ventilation systems, leading to the host of respiratory and allergic reactions now called Sick Building Syndrome. In this full-color, easy-to-follow guide, Dr. Wolverton shows you how to grow and nurture 50 plants as accessible and trouble-free as the tulip and the Boston fern, and includes many beautiful but commonly found varieties not generally thought of as indoor plants. He also rates each plant for its effectiveness in removing pollutants, and its ease of growth and maintenance.
Studies show that Americans spend ninety percent of their lives indoors, which means that good indoor air quality is vital for good health. How to Grow Fresh Air will show you how to purify the environment that has the most impact on you.
How to Grow Fresh Air: 50 House Plants that Purify Your Home or Office Reviews
This review is from: How to Grow Fresh Air: 50 House Plants that Purify Your Home or Office (Paperback)
The book is laid out beautifully. The 50 plants are listed by rank based on removal of chemical vapors, ease of maintenance, resistance to insect infestation, and transpiration rate. Each plant gets a two-page spread; one page discusses the plant's ideal environment, sunlight conditions, care, and general information about the plant along with a full photo of it. The next page has a zoomed-in full-page photo of the leaves and/or flowers so the reader gets a feel for what the plant looks like and how it will fit with their decor.
The book begins by discussing the research about the air purification qualities of houseplants. The initial chapters explain how air contaminates enter our homes, the adverse effects these toxins have on humans, and how plants remove the contaminates from the air. I was surprised to learn that common household items such as blankets, toys, gas stoves, computers, and carpets can lead to allergies, asthma, even cancer, and that they might contribute to... This review is from: How to Grow Fresh Air: 50 House Plants that Purify Your Home or Office (Paperback)
This is a beautifully put-together book focusing on a unique aspect of plant ownership. Entries include both a full-on picture of a healthy, attractively potted specimen, plus a close-up detail of leaves &/or flowers. Descriptions of plant care are concise, well organized and accompanied by a more generalized description of the plant and particulars. Each plant is rated on four characteristics (removal of chemical vapors, ease of growth & maintenance, resistance to insect infestation, & transpiration rate), using an easy to read bar chart which appears on the same page as the description & picture.
This book is an excellent addition to an avid collector's plant library, both for its curiosity value & beautiful coverage of basic houseplants, and doubtless of interest to people concerned about air quality as well. It also provides enough basic information on each plant to be a useful reference for beginning enthusiast, but I would qualify that by saying that... Read more

This review is from: How to Grow Fresh Air: 50 House Plants that Purify Your Home or Office (Paperback)
We all live in houses/apts (at least most of us do!) & thus are all exposed to indoor pollutants. This book starts out w/ an overview of what NASA has found out about indoor air pollution & how to combat it... with plants. Plants not only beautify the home, & bring the outdoors in, but they can also provide a big plus to our health. My husband & I got some new windows installed last fall & have done some painting in a couple of the downstairs room. I have kept peace lilies in the kitchen ever since, as well as a spider plant and have had a rubber plant in the living room. All of which are good at absorbing toxins from the air & are good in low light (which is what we have in those rooms).
In addition to being informative, this book has beautiful photos of all the plants & is very attractive. Makes great housewarming gift!
